This event was very special for me, I love to read, and this event gave me the opportunity to speak in front of a big audience. I was chosen as one of the students who had to read in a stage where I would sit on a chair and start reading to kids who I handed over the book that I chose to read for them.
The book was "David gets in trouble", this book is very special for me since it's one of the first books that I read when I first came to the U.S, since is short and simple to read. The thing that I liked the most is that I asked the children if they have ever have gotten in trouble, and some told very funny things about their family.
At the end, after reading the book I gave all the children a copy of the book. I would like to do it again, it was fun and I was happy seeing the children smiling to the story!

Key Leader Camp
Kiwanis Key Leader Camp was a one of the best opportunities that I have ever had, I learned how to become a better leader, while at the same time having fun and get to know more people, who are too trying to become a successful leader.
I attended the camp with some of my friends, we packed our clothes, went to school, got in the bus, and went straight to the camp. There was plenty of students from Leadership Class from South Garland High School, including me. In fact, out of all the schools from the district of Garland, we the South students were the one who had more students coming to the camp.
It was a very fun and educational weekend, when we arrived we had to put our stuff in our bunk bed, and then go to meeting center. From there on, we received various talks about becoming the leader we are supposed to be, if I had the chance to go back there, I would gladly go again.

Tornado Victim's
The Tornado Victim's Project, was a recollection gift cards for the children of Couch Elementary, who they lost valuable things because of the tornado that came through in September 26, 2015.
As a class we asked each student to donate at least $5 for the cause, so that we could go and turn the money to a gift card from Walmart or Target.
I was the head spear of my class, so I asked around to each individual to at least donate money, some of them gave, others they didn't gave nothing. After we collected the money from my class, I went to Walmart and turn them to a Gift Card, a day before we went to Couch. When we arrived at couch 2 of the 3 children who lost a house were already gone, but there was still one kid left. Her name was Abby, we got the chance to at least take a photo, she was very shy. At the end I'm glad we did this project, because sometimes we can lose everything in an instant, and it will be hard to get to the state that you once where, but with help and hope you just might come back.
College Cliques
As a class we had to choose the college or university that we wanted to make a poster of, after that we had to look for information and start making the poster.
I decided to do Texas A&M University, I looked for information everywhere. I visited their website, their wiki page, facts about them, and even acceptance rate. I decorated the poster with the 2 colors that represents them. I added their website for more information.

Book Drive
We created bookmarks for kids that live in the Philippines, these bookmarks were especially made by students in ELL Leadership Class. These bookmarks were made with a lot of creativity and knowledge.
Each class member started making a bookmark, decorating it like however they wanted to. Some were colorful while others were fancy with a very nice touch. They also came with a quote from a famous author saying something about the importance of reading.
This showed me how to be creative and make something useful for other people to enjoy anentertain themselves.

Brookdale Senior Living
We took a trip to a senior living place called Brookdale, this place is near my High School. We walked all the way just to visit the elderly and have some activities and hear their stories.
As a class we planned to make an activity to entertain them while we were there, also we sat down and listened to various of their stories, some fascinating stories about when they were young and others telling sad stories about the lost of someone.
I learned that we as people, we overlook people who are older than us and we don't pay any attention to their advices. They know more than us, they have experience more than us, and that is why we have to appreciate every moment we spend with them before these memories fade way.
Hearts for the Staff
We made cards with the shape of a heart for each staff in South Garland High School, we made almost 300 cards!
Each individual in the class of ELL Teen Leadership, wrote a card with a quote in it, talking about love or appreciation to the hard working people of South Garland.
This gave me the opportunity to make me see and be very fond of those hard working people that put a lot of effort in making this school a even better place.
